COVID-19 PROTOCOL (as of March 21st )
WHEN YOU ARRIVE TO THE CLUB:

Enter the club as you would normally do.
You MUST fill and sign 2 forms: RISK ACCEPTANCE and COVID-19 Waiver (only need to do this once).
MUST show Proof of Vaccination (either a printed copy or digital copy - need to do this once). The club will continue to require full vaccination to eligible individuals until end of May

DURING JUNIOR CLINIC:

Wearing a Mask is now OPTIONAL
To non-members of the club: once your kid’s session ends we ask you to leave the premises. Unfortunately you cant stay at the club.

PROOF OF VACCINATION (as of Oct 1^st 2021 )

In accordance with York Region Public Health and Dr. Karim Kurji’s Letter of Instruction, effective Friday, October 1 2021, all individuals aged 12 years and older entering an indoor Facility for the purpose of (a) actively participating in organized sports, (b) coaching, officiating at organized sports or volunteering, or (c) spectating at organized sports, will be asked o provide identification and proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or a valid medical exemption.

RETURN TO PLAY – Feb 2nd

Dear Parents & Students,

Hope you are doing well and as must of you should know by now, the Ontario Province is lifting some restrictions starting January 31^st; which means the RHSC Junior Squash Program will start again Wednesday February 2^nd.

Previous health and safety protocols with respect to masking in common areas of the club, proof of vaccination for those 12 years and older, and the quarantine and close contact guidelines, all remain in effect.

Please, let me know if you plan to return to the program or you would like to put “on hold” the balance you have. If I don’t hear from you, I will assume you are planning to come back.
Once we begin again in February, if your kid has to self-isolate, let me know and will also extend your balance for the duration of the self-isolation.
Please remember:

If you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or,
If you live with someone that has symptoms, tested positive for COVID-19, or is presumed to be positive or,
If you have had close contact with a confirmed positive COVID-19 or,
If you have been travelling outside Canada
PLEASE take the self-assessment that will guide you on what you need to do. More information in the Ontario’s website: https://www.ontario.ca/page/covid-19-stop-spread

DURING JUNIOR CLINIC:

MUST be wearing a Mask when not inside the court (players and parents).
SANITIZE hands each time before entering, and after leaving, the court.
To non-members of the club: once your kid’s session ends we ask you to leave the premises. Unfortunately you cant stay at the club.

RETURN TO PLAY Delayed

Dear Parents and students,

Happy New Year and hope you are having a great holiday and time with family.

As you probably heard from this morning, Ontario to return to Step 2 of reopening plan this Wednesday until at least January 26^th.

This modified Step 2 includes the closure of indoor sport and recreational fitness facilities and gyms and therefore we hope to start again our Junior Program by end of January. Will keep you posted.

Parents that had purchased “time packages”, rest assured that will be extending it for as long as we are closed (similar to previous lock downs).

It is unfortunate news as we have been making great progress with the juniors and hope to see you guys very soon.

PROGRAM NEWS
It has come to an end this Year’s Junior Clinics and hoping to see you in January on Wed 5^th. Can’t be more grateful of the opportunity to returning to play this year and what had accomplish GREAT things in only 3 months. Thank you !!

When we come back in the New Year, I am very happy to announce that Rudy Goodridge will be joining us again. Rudy started with the Junior Program back in 2019 and he is ready to come back in 2022. Rudy has an extensive and impressive squash career, with most of it helping develop juniors into this amazing game. Amongst some of his accomplishments: 8 times Barbados national champion, 2 times southern Caribbean champion, 3 times Caribbean over 40 champion, Coach of Barbados team commonwealth games 1998 and inductee in the Barbados Hall of Fame.

Please join me to welcoming him back in the New Year !

Now, want to continue by giving a very warm welcome to the new players that joined the program this last month:

DECEMBER NEWSLETTER

PROGRAM NEWS
It has been a record breaking month in attendance (even compared to pre-Covid times)! With that been said, we are looking to quickly adapt to continue having high quality learning, engagement and fun. We have now 3 courts available for the program and we are working on having a 3^rd coach. More to come. Thank you !!

Also, as many of you already know, I will not be around between Nov 22nd and Dec 3rd. I have the great pleasure of volunteering for the 1st Youth Panam Games in Colombia (helping with the Squash programing as the International Technical Director). Some of the best Under 23 players in the continent will be attending and hope to come back with some great stories. I will do my best to share as much as possible of this amazing event thru the Instagram account: @squashcoach.ca

HAPPENING NOW: 2021 JUNIOR CANADIAN SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIPS & MORE

Wanted to share with you that as your read this email, the 2021 Junior Canadian Championships its on its way. Finals will be played at a glass court in Yorkdale Mall this weekend.

We have the great honor of having 6 players that participate in the RHSC Junior Program competing in this very prestigious event:

2021 Canadian Junior Championships

Next weekend, starting Thursday October 21st, the very prestige Canadian Junior Championship will be taking place in Toronto. The majority of junior matches will take place at UST (Urban Squash Toronto) with U19 semifinals and all finals being played on the glass court at Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

Some of players from the RHSC Junior Squash Program will be participating in this tournament (which is by invitation only). These are:

Boys Under 13: Kent R. and Aidan H.

Girls Under 15: Charlotte G., Zoe C. and Ainsley R.

Girls Under 17: Keira R.

World Squash Day

World Squash Day was born in the USA to honour the memory of the large number of squash players who lost their lives in the attacks on 9/11.

The 20^th anniversary of World Squash Day is primed to deliver a global revival for out sport with a huge array of events happening today around the world and in Pan America!!!!
